With Daddy Away - We All Play...

The kids and I had a really great weekend while Pete was gone. Of course we would have rather had him home with us, but since he wasn't we had to make the best of our weekend!

Because I am tired, as well as watching the Monday night game, this is going to be a long, boring post, only to have a couple cute pictures at the end. Feel free to scroll down. Here is a brief recap of our weekend...

Saturday the kids and I went to the fun park that has the train ride, carousel, and fun playground. While we were there Izzy ran into her best school friend Sarah. It was so fun to see the girls interact since until then I had only heard stories via Izzy. Neither one of my kiddos had a nap on Saturday so both were in bed nice and early.

Sunday found us up around 8:30 and immediately heading to Starbucks for my weekly fix. Drew wakes up and likes to get in the car right away, and Izzy was hoping that pumpkin scones would finally be available. Both kids were super easy to get right into the car! Honestly, I didn't realize Izzy liked the scones so much. She must get that from me, because those are one of two pastries that I will buy from that place - everything else I think is gross! Sunday we just kind of hung out at the house and cleaned. We cleaned inside, and then outside, and then my car. The kids were both pretty tired from the day before so both took naps. That evening we invited some friends over who are getting ready to move. The little boy is in Izzy's school class, and the little girl is just a few months older than Drew. It was really nice to have some friends over - both for me and the kids.

So today Izzy had school and then her bonus music class. Afterwards we came home and played a bit before Izzy asked to have quiet time. No need to ask me twice for some quiet time. She went off for QT and Drew went down for a nap. Izzy got up and we started working on our Halloween cards. Once Drew was up we headed to Target to look for some stuff to make my newest educational game. I didn't find what I was looking for, but did find $40 worth of stuff I wasn't! You will have to wait on our new game until I piece it all together - which will probably be tomorrow.

After Target we headed to McDonald's to meet up with another friend for dinner. ...so many of us lonely single wives these days...

My kids had a great time and both actually ate a few bites of hamburger! Of course I tried to explain to Izzy that was her dinner so she would not get any food at home later. I caved when we got home and let her have some yogurt.

So, after being all gross from playing at McDonald's the kids needed baths. We got these fun colored fizz tablets while at Target that the kids were anxious to try out in the tub. You add some tablets to change the color of the water. Why didn't I invent those? Both kids got all squeaky clean and were getting ready for bed when we came downstairs for the yogurt.

Why? Why did he find it necessary to do this?

When he saw me get out the camera he actually said "cheese" to me.

When I said, "Drew! What did you do?" He told me, "I put yo-gurt in my hair. I put.it.right.there.! Touch it. Get it!"

I tried to get a video, but my camera memory card filled up pretty quickly. Here is all I got.

Izzy made a comment to me today about how she is missing daddy, but that we do lots of fun stuff when he is gone. I thought about it and then realized that we have done quite a bit since he left last week. ...just wish I would have done a better job documenting it!
