Sparkle Plenty Party

Izzy's 6th birthday party was held in Greensboro, NC on Friday, February 11th, 2011 from 4-6.

She talked about her party and seeing all her friends from the time we moved up until the start of her party. I think she had a fantastic time being treated liked the princess she thinks she is!

At this time I also want to note that while Drew was NOT at the party, Pete was. He was stationed outside the entrance playing the role of bouncer. He was working the velvet rope and only allowing VIP's.

Cake - she probably wished her Greensboro weekend extravaganza never had to end.

It was a party that won't be forgotten anytime soon~

Back to the 'boro

Part of the "relo" package when we moved was we promised Izzy we would celebrate her birthday party in Greensboro. The kids and I left Charleston after lunch on Wednesday, Feb. 9th. Pete was in Myrtle Beach that day so he met up with us at the hotel later that evening.

Wednesday we drove from our house to the Adam's house without stopping! We had Chloe with us (we snuck her into the hotel that night before taking her to the kennel the next day) and the kids knew if they were to jump on the trampoline we had to make it there before dark. We were there by 6 and the kids (plus Rylie) had so much fun jumping, playing and running! It sure felt good to be back with friends!!!

Thursday was our trip to the circus with Izzy's old kindergarten class. The schools had a 2 hour delay due to snow that morning, but thankfully the circus was still a go! It was SO long - too long. Drew sat like this the entire time. I asked him a number of times if he wanted to leave, but he wanted to watch - just not hear.

Friday morning Pete and I each took a kid and split up for the morning. I took Izzy to visit her old school, while Pete took Drew to visit his old school. It happened to be the 100th day celebration at Izzy's "old" school. One of the stations required the kids to lick a lollipop 100 times. Ms. S told me, "It is math ;-)" Look how happy Izzy looks!!!

We all met up, with Drew's friend William, at McDonalds for lunch. Drew has sure missed one of his best buds William! We spent nearly 3 hours playing at McDonalds.

From McDonalds we headed to Izzy's birthday party! While Drew played at his friend James' house, the rest of us headed to Sparkle Plenty. (Sparkle Plenty will get its own post).

Saturday morning I got my hair cut/colored at 8 am, while Pete and the kids slept til nearly 9:30! After I returned, Pete and Drew headed back to Charleston with Chole. Izzy and I met up with Stephanie, Rylie and Max for some shopping and fro-yo.

Saturday night Izzy had her FIRST EVER SLEEP OVER at Delaney's for her 6th birthday party. Leading up to the party she told me she wasn't going to stay over night, but after seeing Delaney she changed her mind. Truth be told, I really wanted her to come back and spend the night with me at the hotel. I don't like hotels...and I REALLY needed her to get some sleep since Sunday was going to be a very long busy day.

...but while Izzy was having fun at her slumber party I had some time to myself! I was so excited that a friend was able to sneak away from her husband/kids and go to dinner with me. Thanks Lish~

Sunday...I'm exhausted just typing all this...I picked up Izzy from Delaney's around 10 and then headed back to the hotel to pack up the car and check out. Our first party on Sunday was Rylie's 6th! She had it at a local roller rink. My Izzy girl can skate!

Immediately following Rylie's party we headed to Caroline's 6th birthday party. It was at Parties 2 Dye 4 and each guest got to dye a shirt.

In addition to the shirts, the kids swirled a cupcake with frosting to give it the tie-dyed look.

Finally...finally...at 4:30 we left Greensboro, NC and made the trek back to Charleston. It was a jammed packed weekend filled with great friends and super fun times!

Icky Sicky Poo-poo

What's a boy to do on a day when he feels like this?

Photobucket

Bake and frost cookies of course!

Photobucket

Yesterday Izzy had her 6 year well visit (we just returned from a whirlwind weekend of fun in Greensboro late Sunday night) and while she is as perfect as can be, Drew is not. He didn't even want to eat any ice-cream after dinner...

Photobucket

Drew and I were at Izzy's school for her Valentine's Day party when he began to cough while sitting on my lap. I felt his head and immediately knew he had a fever. As luck would have it, I was taking Izzy with me after her party for her 6 year well visit. We hustled out of the party and headed to the doctor.

While Izzy was getting her physical, I asked the nurse to take Drew's temp. 103! Yup, nothing like being the new patients in town and causing problems from the get-go. While Izzy had her well visit, Drew got a flu test done as well as a strep test. He was less then thrilled with a q-tip shoved up his nose and another shoved down his throat, but what's a mom to do?

While Drew tested positive for strep. Izzy's stats are as follows:

weight: 40.2 lbs placing her in the 21%. (Drew weighed in at 40.2 as well).

height: 42.75 in. placing her in the 10%.

update on 2/16 Drew is still sick and his fever has yet to break. He is holding steady between 102.8-104. He has had 4 doses of antibiotics and I'm hoping he will take a turn for the better soon. As I type this he is outside riding his scooter with Izzy. I don't think he wants to be outside, but his sister wasn't taking "no" for an answer. Hopefully the fresh air will do him some good.

Izzy Turns 6

Not only did Izzy turn 6 on February 1st, but it was the 100th day of school. It was a day of celebrations from beginning to end!

The birthday girl debated between pancakes with whipped cream (which she has never had so not where that idea came from? I guess at 6 you get brilliant breakfast ideas) or a bagel with cream cheese (her typical breakfast). In the end her old standby won out.

Photobucket

Pete, Drew and I met up with her at school for lunch. So much fun! ..notice her 100 day necklace that she made (it says "Happy Birthday Izzy" in the center)

After school we came home, waited for Pete to return with the cake, and then tore into some presents!

From the family she scored: new Twinkly Toes, American Girl doll, new bike, squinkies (Drew's pick), Guess Who Game, Electronic Map Game, puzzle of the US, Spa Science kit, books, play-doh...and hopefully I didn't forget anything. Basically she got too much!

Izzy, like her Mom, likes an ice-cream cake for her birthday. Since we were due for an afternoon snack, we had cake BEFORE dinner.

Wishing...
