Kid Comments...

The kids heard the ice-cream truck and asked if they could have some. My response was, "that's fine but if you get ice-cream now then you don't get any ice-cream cake after dinner tonight" ...upon returning from the truck Drew says to me, "Psych! I still get ice-cream tonight cause I got a SNOWCONE from the ice-cream truck!"

Izzy wanted her friend, Averie, to stay for dinner tonight and since they are currently doing persuasive writings at school I had them each write me a letter as to why Averie should be able to stay for dinner.

I just spent way too long trying to explain to Drew the saying, "no, your other left" - talk about difficult!  ...the only thing I can figure is...We had just left the getting him fitted for a tux and he said to me, "what does 'no your other left' mean?" I am assuming the guy doing his measurements told him to do something with his left hand and Drew used his right and then they guy said that too him. When Drew finally understood the saying he told me, "well that's just ridiculous. Why wouldn't he just say 'that's not your left hand

Drew just got out of bed to me and said, "Mom, if you say 'never' to something, is it possible that you might find yourself in a situation where you might actually want to do it?"  What the heck????  How does he come up with such questions?  I couldn't make it up even if I tried!

Mother's Day Tea

Today was my last preschool Mother's Day Tea...unless I have a mini meltdown after Drew begins kindergarten and decide a third is needed!

It was the sweetest tea yet!

When we arrived in the classroom we were served muffins and coffee (we were told to bring a favorite mug) by our child.  ...but not before Drew signed in.

While we were eating we played a super fun, yet very hard, game.  Each child had drawn a picture of their mommy and we had to match the portrait to the mommy.  I guessed which one Drew did on my first try.  As to not give the answer away, I whispered to him, "Am I number 9?"  He told me I was wrong and  then I felt bad for not knowing.  I re-guessed #3 and he said "yes!"  A couple minutes later he informed me that my first guess was in fact correct.  Phew!  I felt so much better.

The back of the picture had these questions and answers.  I like that I am 20 something and that Drew knows what upsets me is when he whines.  He is correct on both account!

After the game we opened our present...how awesome is this!!!

Then the kids recited a poem called "Daffodils" and sang a couple songs.  My favorite song was "Mama Loves Me" sung to the tune of "Jesus Loves Me".

Here is Drew and his great teacher, Miss Leigh.  We will miss her something fierce next year.  She did an amazing job preparing Drew for kindergarten.

And no school post would be complete without a picture of Drew and his buddy Jack.  I kid you not when I say these two talk non-stop!  They make silly faces at one another and just crack each other up all day.  I don't know how I haven't gotten a more notes home regarding Drew/Jack and issues with listening.  When they are together they are in their own little world.

At one point I looked over and Drew and a couple friends were playing with baby dolls.  It was just so funny...and it made me smile :)

I'm pretty sure this is my most favorite time of the year!

Drew Funnies

As we were looking over pictures of the alligator that bit Papa, Drew says up, "Come on already, I want to see the one of the gator biting Papa!"

Drew was accidentally left home alone for about 30 minutes last week. I was volunteering in Izzy's class, and Pete was going to take Drew to his field trip. I left the house at 9 after telling Drew to play quietly until Daddy got off his conference call. I made a big mistake by not telling Pete I was leaving. When Pete finished his call he yelled for Drew but didn't get a reply. Pete then looked outside and saw my car was gone and assumed I got tired of waiting for him and just took Drew with me. It wasn't until he was almost at the field trip location that he thought perhaps Drew was in our toy room. He was unable to get ahold of me due to the fact I get no reception in the school. Pete got home to a slightly scared boy, who then apologized for closing the toy room door and not answering when called. Pete assured him that he did nothing wrong! Pete then brought him to meet me at the school so I could take him to his field trip. While putting Drew in my car Pete and I both apologized to one another for what we did wrong, I said, "Well, that will certainly never happen again!" Drew, appearing slightly annoyed, says, "Well I should sure hope not!"

We all know how much Drew loves to play video games. In fact, if he isn't playing the games with his buddies, he is "acting out the games" somehow. Well, he has taken this to a whole new level! I now get points for various household duties I complete. While cleaning the sink yesterday, Drew said, "Mom, you are doing a really great job. Once you get to 99 points you will be able to unlock new cleaning supplies!" When pressed a little further I found out that doing laundry gives me the most points and I am able to trade in 10 points for Drew to come in and do a "speed clean" and assist me. I was also informed that certain cleaning tasks would allow me to "level up". ...Lord help his kindergarten teacher :)

Uncle Andy's Visit!

Uncle Andy came to visit! Not only did he come visit, but he flew here, on a plane...well, not a plane but a jet! An F-22 to be more specific. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Pretty snazzy, huh? Andy flew into Shaw AFB on Friday afternoon and then drove the 2 hours to spend the night with us. All day I had some very excited children. I can't even tell you how many "How much longer til Uncle Andy gets here?" questions I fielded. In fact, Izzy and her friend Berkley spend over 2 hours perfecting dance routines to 3 songs off the Shake It Up cd. Once Andy did arrive he had to sit through a dance recital immediately! Saturday morning Andy left about 9 to head to the air show and we followed a couple hours later. While Pete saw many air shows as a child, I had never been to one. I thought it was AWESOME (despite the 98 degree temps!) The kids enjoyed lots of various things... seeing Uncle Andy dressed in his flight suit and sitting "behind the red rope" - it was way cool when Uncle Andy let them on the other side! Here they took the time to ask about the F-22...how fast it goes, fuel, recent controversy regarding the oxygen, etc. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Snow cones Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Funnel cake - which might be my most favorite food EVER! However, Drew likes to tell me that he likes it more and after I declared this one "just okay" he said, "I told you I like funnel cakes the best!" Photobucket Of course there were planes to see... Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket The best seats in the house... Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Towards the end of the show, Drew found a pile of ice that kept him quite entertained Photobucket And Izzy found a strawberry banana smoothie Photobucket We got lucky when Uncle Andy decided to drive back to our house for a second night in a row! After a big breakfast the next morning we decided to take a couple pictures...and it went something like this. Stay safe...and we will see you in DC!!! Photobucket Photobucket
