It was just a matter of time

until Drew figured out how to take his diaper off. Lately he has been quite upset whenever I remove his clothing OR when I try to put clothing on him. He loves to be naked (clad in only a diaper) but now battles me when I try to remove his clothing. ...and then a big battle also ensues when I try to redress him. So this evening after his bath he was running around "nakey" as he calls it wearing only his diaper. We came downstairs to have a snack, still wearing just the diaper, and he chose Dora crackers. I then left him to check the laundry only to come back no less than 60 seconds later to him completely naked! He was sitting on the floor naming various Dora crackers. I said "honey, where is your diaper?" and he said "ha-nee, Dew-Dew nakey". He was essentially calling me honey and saying that he (Dew-dew) was naked. ...as if I couldn't see that! I lost it to hysterics.

Izzy said a couple rather funny things today too. The first occurred while we were in the Starbucks drive-thru line. As we pulled up to Starbucks I said "Oh good, there is no one in line". Izzy said "well that sure is lucky for us, I'd say". Huh? Silly girl. After we left Starbucks we went to her friend Delaney's house to play and make smores. It was just about time for us to leave and the girls were upstairs playing in Delaney's room. I yelled up to Izzy that we had to leave in a few minutes so I was going to get Drew ready and then take him outside for a few minutes. As Izzy and Delaney are walking down the stairs I can hear Izzy say to Delaney "sure Delaney we can probably ride bikes for a few minutes. My mommy always has my bike in the back of the car. Hey mom...of course you remembered to bring my bike, didn't you?" Well, this bad mom did NOT have her bike in the back of the car today :( I just thought it was so funny how she used "of course" in the sentence.

So our day consisted of going to Delaney's this morning, home to nap Drew, and then back to Delaney's for bike riding :) No bike riding really took place because the kids decided it would be much more fun to puddle jump. All three kids were soaked! after all the jumping. Drew hung with the big girls like a champ. I think he thinks he is bigger than he really is. It makes me kind of sad sometimes.

After we left Delaney's we came home and played outside a while longer. Drew helped me plant my hanging baskets and then Izzy helped me do a potted plant arrangement. We also planted two flowers in Izzy's playhouse pots. Question is...who's flowers will last longer?

The countdown is on...Pete's parents arrive tomorrow! We have lots of fun stuff planned and I may just get around to adding some pictures and letting others view this blog :)

Til then...

Day 2

Well, I am really going to try hard to keep up with this blogging thing. Currently I am not allowing anyone to view these posts as I really haven't found my "grove" or figured out how to upload pictures and videos. ...and really who just wants to read about my day if there are no pics? This has been a really busy week as Pete's parents are due to arrive in a couple days so there is much to get ready!

Just a fun fact from today. Izzy has been trying SO HARD to reach the top of the climbing apparatus at McDonald's. Well, tonight she finally did! We had some birthday presents to buy at Toy's R Us this afternoon and afterwards we decided to hit up McD's for some much deserved ice-cream. Well, Izzy's little friend Jack tried to teach her how to climb up the "steps" by putting a foot into the netting on the side and then hoisting your body up. She was unable to do this one week ago, but tonight she got it! Ironically Jack was with us. The two of them climbing, pulling, hoisting was a site to see. I don't recall the last time she was beaming with so much pride. I only wish I had my camera to capture the moment. I will certainly take it next time - although I know the pictures won't be from the "first summit" they will still be great. Drew even got in on the action by clapping and yelling "Yay Izzy" with each step she was able to climb. ...speaking of Drew...

Drew, well, he is on day 4 of major crank! He is working on a couple of wicked teeth and is just not his normal happy go lucky self. He is okay with some motrin/tylenol pumping through his veins, but when the dose wears off he is not happy. I swear it is just like clockwork too. Tonight as I was singing him songs before bed and he kept biting into my shoulder. He has only ever bit me twice in the past. Tonight he was gnawing methodically at my shoulder. I sure hope he sleeps through the night.

That's all I've got.

Just do it...

Well, I suppose the best way to blog is to just do it. So, since Pete is gone for the evening at a business dinner, I have grabbed a glass of wine and decided to give this a shot. Here goes...

First we need to go over the ground rules. By ground rules I mean why/how this blog will work. This blog will be written as often as possible. The reason for the entries are to simply keep track of all the "what doings" in our life. I am not writing this for any other reason than to remember my children's early days. If family, friends, and others decide to read then great. If not, well that is fine as well.

We are the perfect family :) Dad, Mom, little girl and little boy. Isabelle is 3 and Drew is 18 months. The two of them call all the shots! They are the reason that I get up everyday and the reason for 99% of what goes on daily. They are truly gifts from God and in my opinion PERFECT. Sure we have our moments, but even those moments make for great stories - well, most of the time.

Izzy goes to school two days a week from 9-12. One day a week she stays until 1 for "lunch bunch". Izzy's teachers have said she is the perfect student. She is quite the talker (has been since 18 months) and continues to amuse them with some of the statements that come out of her mouth. Izzy often tells me about the kids who have had to "sit by the teacher" or "had to be talked to", but she is quite proud that neither have happened to her.

Drew is my lover boy and has been since day 1. He is all boy: no fear, loves to eat ALOT, climb and chatter! He is his sister's best friend, but also her biggest nemesis. He and I really enjoy our alone time together when Izzy is at school. Drew has recently (one week ago) started Soccer Tots. While he hated the first week I am hoping he will like it as it is something for just the two of us to do.

I could go on and on and on about the kids, but I will just slowly add in details about each one with future posts.

A couple funny things from today that I want to make sure to remember...both were quotes by Drew. We were playing hide-n-seek upstairs and Drew and I hid in my closet. Izzy opened the door to find us and Drew said "Oh sucks (shucks)" and then "Oh phooey". Both were accompanied by hand motions - the "oh man" hand gesture that Swiper makes. At one other point today I wiped Drew's nose (he has the tail end of a cold and is teething) and after I did it he said "Thank you Mama". It was too cute!

Okay, since this is my first official blog post I am going to wrap this up and try to publish it. Hopefully as time goes on I can learn to upload pictures and videos - cause my kids are WAY CUTE!
